All of our therapists are bound by stringent professional code of ethics, including issues related to confidentiality. However there are limits to confidentiality particularly in relation to child protection and harm to self or another.
All psychotherapists are mandated by law to report any concerns they have of ‘actual or potential harm’ to a child to TUSLA. Further information on reporting to TUSLA may be found at www.tusla.ie. The therapist will be happy to discuss this with you and clarify any questions you may have.
Currently, we provide counselling and psychotherapy to Individuals, Adolescents, Couples and Families
The work begins with whatever issue is brought to the process by the client. Issues are sometimes quite specific or less definable. In either case therapy is a collaborative process between therapist and client in a supportive non-judgemental environment. Therapeutic collaboration promotes an easing of symptoms and deeper understanding of the issues and concerns which are troubling. Therapy increases client self-awareness - a very effective resource which helps people address symptoms and dominant patterns of behaviour which may prevent them leading satisfactory lives.
That depends on what the problem is that is bringing you to therapy in the first place. If it is a very focused problem you may only need a few sessions. If the issue is complex and real emotional change is necessary, this can take longer. There is no prescriptive length of time, it varies according to individual needs.
Yes, there is usually no specified time or fixed contract. However, we do ask that four weeks’ notice be given in order to allow time to think through and prepare for the ending.
Monday through Friday including evenings, by appointment only.
We are aware that fees can vary across practices. For one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy you will usually meet with your therapist once a week. Sessions last for 50 minutes to one hour. Couple or family work would more generally occur fortnightly or monthly. The fee structure is agreed with you by your therapist in advance. Cancellation fees may be payable as agreed with your therapist. Fees range from €70 to €80 for individuals and up to €120 for couples and families.
